Bridgewater Retirement Community Earns International Recognition

December 10, 2025 | Bridgewater Retirement Community (BRC) is proud to announce its recognition by the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) as a recipient of the ICAA NuStep Pinnacle Award, ranking #2 among North America’s Top 5 “Best in Wellness” senior living communities for 2024. This honor reflects BRC’s commitment to promoting a vibrant, wellness-focused culture for both residents and team members.

The Pinnacle Award, presented by the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) and NuStep, LLC, celebrates senior living communities that are redefining aging by embedding wellness into their core mission, setting a new standard for excellence in the industry.

Rodney Alderfer, BRC’s President and recipient of the ICAA NuStep Top 5 Wellness Executive Pinnacle Award says, “Wellness culture is a way of life at BRC, ingrained in a supportive approach to achieving one’s highest quality of life.” Rodney’s leadership exemplifies BRC’s belief that wellness is not just a goal but a way of life, providing opportunities for all to achieve their highest quality of living.

BRC’s holistic approach to wellness is evident in several key initiatives. The successful LiveWell fundraising campaign raised over $5 million to support the Energized Life, Workwell, and Community Outreach funds. To date, nearly 20 Innovation Grants have been awarded to enhance the well-being of BRC residents and team members.

Additionally, BRC reorganized its leadership structure to create a dedicated Well-Being team, which includes Life Enrichment, Fitness, Spiritual Life, and Technology Education. This team ensures focused opportunities to improve residents’ daily lives, while providing essential vocational experiences where residents can support one another.

BRC’s commitment to tracking and enhancing well-being extends through its partnership with Wellzesta, a resident well-being technology engagement platform. This platform allows BRC to monitor wellness progress, ensuring we stay on course to meet the health and wellness needs of every individual in the community.

Colin Milner, CEO and Founder of the ICAA, shares, “The Pinnacle Award celebrates communities that lead the way in wellness innovation, reshaping the future of aging and inspiring others to follow their example.” Jane Benskey, Marketing Communications Specialist at NuStep, added, “BRC’s commitment to holistic well-being empowers residents and team alike, creating a thriving community where wellness touches every aspect of life.”
