Bridgewater Gives Every Month: Introducing BRC Community Connections

As Bridgewater Retirement Community gives thanks for the generous gifts we receive, we also want to highlight the ways we give back. BRC Community Connections is a program that not only does great work, it also develops connections with the greater Bridgewater-Harrisonburg community. Each month brings a different opportunity for team members, residents, and future residents to help.

Open Doors

January’s Community Connections event will be serving a meal with Open Doors at Vision of Hope United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg. If you would like to volunteer or have questions about the event, contact Laura Powell at (540) 828-2682 or Lipock@brcliving.org.

Polar Plunge for Loads of Love

Bridgewater also supports Open Doors’ “Loads of Love” mission, a way of providing clean laundry to the area homeless. Donate your quarters in the specially designated boxes, which are labeled with team members’ names.

Volunteering to take the plunge for this good cause are BRC President Rodney Alderfer; Jeff Lambert, Vice President of Health Services; Michael Drueen, Vice President of Human Resources; Heath Carter, Bridgewater Home Maintenance; and Eston Baughman, BRC Grounds.

The “winner” will take a polar plunge into icy water in the middle of January. Now that’s cold – all in support of a warm-hearted goal.

Donation boxes are located at the reception desk in Garber Atrium in BRC’s administrative Center and will take contributions from January 2 through January 16. The Plunge happens at the Oasis on January 18 at 2:00 p.m.

To remain eligible for the Home No Matter What Promise, residents must fulfill their obligations in turn as citizens of the BRC community and not give away the resources needed to meet financial obligations to BRC.
