Construction Update – December 2018

If the Grove looks like a big plastic bubble right now there is a reason for that. Nielsen, the construction company for this project, is keeping the temperature at 40 degrees for bricking and putting EIFS (a stucco-like, multi-layered exterior finish) on the outside of the building. The plastic and butane heaters also lower moisture levels, so drywall work can begin. We don’t have an exact date yet, but we hope to have our model apartment unit finished by February to help future residents visualize what their new home will look like.

When adding on to existing buildings, sometimes there are surprises. Such is the case in constructing our new Assisted Living unit. There is a steel beam in the way of finishing the entry connection; it is being removed with a water jet cutter, the safest method. Contractors will soon wrap up the installation of windows in the new Assisted Living unit.

The Bistro, which will act as the connector between Maple Terrace and Assisted Living, is being framed in and should be under roof very soon. We are expecting it to be completed in May or June of next year, so it will be up and running by the time the Grove is ready for residents later in the summer.

After January 2, 2019, Mack A and B rooms of Maple Terrace will be closed due to construction of a new rear entry way and other renovations to the Houff Community Center on the first floor of Maple Terrace.

Outside, temporary paving in several areas will make our streets safer and easier to navigate. Come by and see all the progress!
