Volunteer Spotlight: Yard Sales at the Barn

BRC’s newest thrift shop is located at 100 Virginia Avenue and fondly referred to as “The Barn.” The former Bridgewater Rescue Squad building is now used by BRC for maintenance and by the Bridgewater Village Residents’ Association (BVRA) for their fundraising sales. Volunteers work on Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. to process donated items. Customers are welcome to shop during these times even though they are not advertised as such to the general public. Public sales are held on Saturday mornings about nine times per year. The next scheduled sale is Saturday, April 14 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The Barn always welcomes new volunteers to sort, price and display items in a relaxed and social atmosphere. Come on in and join us!

The environment is rustic with a comfortable temperature being achieved with space heaters in the winter and fans and a window AC unit in the summer. Even so, dress warmly if you plan to visit or volunteer when it is cold outside. The nearest bathroom facilities are across the street at Hearthstone Manor or up the street at Maple Terrace.

If you are interested in volunteering or donating to The Barn, please contact Laura Powell, Volunteer Services Director at 540-828-2682 or Lipock@brcliving.org
